Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Galentine's Art Night at the 13th annual Indiana Art Fair where 60 Hoosier artists displayed their works for sale. Twenty-two of our 92 counties were represented, and there was something for everyone.
Our night started with hors d'oeuvres. My favorite was the little brie tart with apricot jam. I may have to learn to make them!
After hors d'oeuvres we were able to go to an area where we could paint our own masterpiece. I'm not sure that mine turned out to be much of a masterpiece, but it was a fun experience!
When we had finished painting we were then able to visit each of the artists' booths and talk with them about their different forms of art.
Jerry Krider's woodwork was gorgeous! No stains or dyes are used on the wood at all to get the brilliant colors. You can see more of his work here.
If you go to the art fair make sure that you stop by and see Rick Greiner! He is delightful and funny. Also, make sure you ask him about his hat collection from around the world.
I fell in love with "Luke" (above). He would be perfect sitting on my mantle! We were able to talk to Mr. Reveal (the artist), and he said that Luke is the perfect pet because you don't have to feed him. So true! I will be jealous of whoever gets to take him home. You can see more of J. Rodney Reveal's work here.
The woodworking items were some of my favorite of the evening. I can imagine beautiful summer salads in some of these bowls. The bowl above with the crosses created by Mr. Chapman was exquisite and I love the movement in the bowl below by Mr. Anderson.
Beverly Skinner was the sweetest woman. She talked to us for quite a while and even remembered my friends due date when we went back to her booth so I could purchase one of her stained glass pieces! You can see more of Beverly's art here.
My favorite photograph was from Tom Duffy's Ghost Town collection. You can see the collection here.
I had a fabulous time with my friend enjoying all of the Hoosier creativity. I absolutely plan to go back next year. I hope that you will take some time today to head over to the Indiana Art Fair at the Indiana State Museum. The fair is going on from 10am to 5pm today, February 13, 2016.
