I didn’t have a smartphone until late last year, but since getting one I have fallen in love with podcasts! I rarely listen to the radio while driving anymore. I turn on one of my downloaded podcasts and enjoy.
One podcast that I adore is The Simple Sophisticate hosted by Shannon Ables. In my first post, I describe to you how I classify myself as “classy country.” Well, this podcast speaks to my “classy” side.

I have read Shannon’s blog The Simply Luxurious Life for about two years now. She is a go-to if you are wanting to add simplicity and luxury to your everyday life. She believes in using the special china on a Tuesday and sleeping on those silk sheets! As a proclaimed Francophile, she gives plenty of insight on how women in Europe, specifically France, believe in quality over quantity and gives you step-by-step advice on how to do the same in your life.
Investing in items, activities and people that you love and losing the rest will allow you to have a more enjoyable and full life. Don’t know where to start? Start with this podcast!
Shannon also recently published a book titled, Choosing the Simply Luxurious Life: The Modern Woman’s Guide, which I have bought but have not had the time to read with the arrival of J and then the garden. I promise to review it here on the blog once I complete it!

Hi Erika, I love your blog and your story! Life on the hill sounds wonderful. We have a few things in common; first being 4-H. I think I cheated though, because I was in a 4-H twirling club, and sewing club, so know nothing about raising animals. My sister on the other hand, was president of the FFA in school and raised a steer, does that count? Lol. I also have a financial background, having been in banking and investments for almost thirty years. Last but not least, love Dave Ramsey! I’m following your blog and FB page, and look forward to more great posts. God bless!
That’s awesome! Thanks for following!
I am definitely going to have to poke around your blog some more and check out this podcast! I have China that I never use and seems to collect dust. Maybe I’ll break it out for dinner tonight. It is Tuesday after all! Thanks for linking up this week!
Thank you! I adore Shannon and her approach to life, so definitely check her out too!
