Simple March

March 10, 2016 by Erika

I know that I haven't been blogging on a very regular schedule lately, but I promise I have a very good reason.  Can you keep a secret?  I'm having a new website created!  I'm working with the very talented Katie Dahl from Dahl House Designs.  She is being too good to me and really guiding me through the process.  The writing part of blogging comes pretty easy to me, but the techie stuff, not so much.  That's why I've been a little absent here; I'm working on creating an AMAZING website with an AMAZING lady, so I hope you'll forgive me for being a bit sporadic these next few weeks as all of the pieces fall into place.

So it's ten days into March and I haven't told you what I'm going to be working on this month for my Simple 2016.  Honestly, it may not all get done, but here are a few things.

I want to continue the KonMari method of cleaning up.  I'm on papers.  I have a filing cabinet filled to the brim that I plan to go through and organize.  I also need to come up with a better mail system.  Somehow it always end up stacked on the counter.  This one section of tidying up will probably take all month because I can't sort while little man is awake.  He likes to crawl through my piles.... And since a lot of my time when he is asleep so far this month has been focused on the new site, I haven't even started this task.

The other thing I'm doing this month is focused on my eating habits.  I'm trying to take my vitamin everyday and I've decided to give up ALL pop (soda, coke, whatever you call it) for the month.  I don't know that I will give it up altogether, I can't imagine never having a Mountain Dew again, but this will be a good detox at least.  I have really been trying to get my water in while at home and when we are out I usually order water or tea.  Over the last few years I have become obsessed with fruit teas, specifically peach, at restaurants.  Yum!

This weekend I'm going to start some seeds for the garden.  We are expanding our variety so that we can hopefully reduce the grocery bill and eat many meals with ingredients predominately from the garden.  We are also going to expand the garden to incorporate more for canning and preserving.  I didn't have nearly enough put back this year, except for green beans.  If you follow me on Instagram, you know I have planted a small row of spinach already.  I just couldn't help myself.  We were playing outside and it was so nice that I had to try it.  It was only a half row so if it's too cold or wet it won't be too much of a loss.

How about you?  How are those resolutions or goals going?
