Hand-Picked Peach: Magnolia Market Square Wire Basket

July 15, 2016 by Erika

Hand-Picked Peach Post Header Web

A few weeks ago I shared an adorable pail from Anthropologie to help you pick those fresh veggies out of your garden, and I mentioned needing a basket for my eggs.  Well, I found it!  I just purchased this Square Wire Basket from Magnolia Market and I can't wait for it to arrive...and for us to have eggs for me to gather in it!

This past week the hubs was on travel for work, so I was in charge of taking care of everything here by myself.  Can I just tell you that I don't handle stress very well?  Cue Fixer Upper on Netflix!  Sometimes I don't even have the show on to see the reveals.  Chip and Joanna just make my heart happy.  Having that happiness playing in the background of cleaning and taking care of the kiddos was very welcomed this week!

But even though I needed Jojo this week for sanity more than design, can we all just agree that she has impeccable taste?!  I mean, really.  One of the things that I love about her home and the spaces she designs is the simplicity and calm.  I need calm in my life!

While watching an episode of Fixer Upper, I decided to head over to Magnolia Market online and I found this cute little basket...ON SALE!!!  It was originally $18, but now it is on sale for $12, so I snatched it up.

I plan on this basket becoming my egg basket primarily, but I think it will be good for smaller trips to the garden for dinner supplies as well.

Are you a Fixer Upper fan?  I'd love to here what you love about Jojo's style, or tell me what you use to gather your eggs.  Connecting with readers is one of my favorite things about blogging.  Comment below or send me an email using the contact page.

Elnora Antique Tractor Show 2015

September 14, 2015 by Erika

Tractor at Elnora

I can officially say, that in my book at least, it's fall.  I've been seeing lovely photos on my Instagram feed for a few weeks of fall decor, but for me, its not fall until after the Elnora Antique Tractor Show.

"What in the world is the Elnora Antique Tractor Show," you ask.  It is a large, four-day event held by the White River Valley Antique Association at the Daviess County fairgrounds in southern Indiana and is the second largest antique show in the state.  As the name suggests there are a lot of antique tractors, but don't worry, that's not all there is.  If you love antiques and junkin' then you want to come here.  There is booth after booth of antiques and handmade wears and furniture.  Last year I bought an antique wooden folding chair and antique sieve for my tomato canning.  This year I added some milk glass to my collection.

Not looking to buy anything?  You can simply stroll through the Old Homestead area which features an old church, old schoolhouse and a working mill that makes cornmeal you can buy.  Speaking of cornmeal, there are all kinds of food products made on site that you can take home with you.  Pressed cider, homemade ice cream, homemade root beer, and sorghum made on site using horse power are just a few of the unique items offered at the event.  There are also your typical fair/festival foods like elephant ears and pulled pork barbecue sandwiches.

This is absolutely a family friendly event.  Your kids will love the animals, especially the miniature horses.  One miniature horse is raffled off every year.  However, I have yet to get my husband to let me buy a ticket. (Sigh.)  Being a fairground, be prepared for a bit of dirt or mud depending on the weather.  We pulled our kiddos in our trusty wagon because I didn't want my nice stroller getting muddy.  However, I loved being able to match my girl in our Hunter wellies.

And when we were tired of walking, we bought a couple sandwiches and let L play on the playground equipment in the area right next to the festival.

Usually I go more than once during the four days because my parents have multiple stands set up, but due to the fire (read about that here) they weren't able to make it this year.  It was so nice of people that saw me walking around to say how much they missed my parents' stands and hoped to see them next year.  That's what I love about our small community.

Next September, if you are looking for a little bit of country to get you in the mood for fall, come on down to the Tractor Show!

(Oh my gosh!  I just reread that last line...how much of a country bumpkin do I sound like? Hehe!)
