Turning 30 Goal Check-In: Month 1

December 2, 2015 by Erika

Learning Keeps You Young

At the beginning of November I wrote a post about ten things I wanted to do before turning 30 next year.  I REALLY do want to keep that list alive, so I thought I would do monthly check-ins with you all to share my progress and keep myself accountable.

Goal #1: Read more

Progress: I finished To Kill a Mockingbird for my book club.  I had never read it before.  We will be meeting this week to discuss it.  Next month we are going to read Go Set a Watchman.  I also read and reviewed Messy Grace by Caleb Kaltenbach here on the blog.  And I'm currently working on Anything by Jennie Allen with The Influence Network's book club.

Goal #2: Continue Going to Yoga

Progress: I only made it to one class last month. In my defense, one week was cancelled due to the instructor having other obligations so I technically only missed two classes and I missed them because of L having a check-up appointment and I had a stomach bug the other week.

Goal #3: Lose the Baby Weight

Progress: I have made no progress here. (Sigh.)

Goal #4: Learn Italian

Progress: After reading my post, my wonderful husband decided to start learning with me!  He has been listening to Coffee Break Italian on his way to work (which is one podcast I listen to as well), and then he will come home and we try to carry on a "conversation" with the little bit that we know.  It has been really great.  He's even mentioned getting workbooks for us to use!

Goal #5: Take a Cooking Class

Progress: We have not taken a cooking class.  With all of the holidays, I doubt this goal will be fulfilled until after the new year.

Goal #6: Make Time for Play

Progress: We have started to make Friday nights pizza and family game night.  I bought L a few memory games and we bought Candy Land and Let's Go Fishing.  I normally make our pizza, so I'm running low on my pizza sauce I canned this year.  Definitely making note that I'll have to can more next summer.

Goal #7: Develop a Signature Style

Progress: I have started to clean out my closet a little.  I'm trying to not buy anything new until I get back down to my pre-baby weight.  I also have started looking into tools and blog posts to help me make this a reality when I do decide I'm ready to start purchasing new clothes.

Goal #8: Master the Top Knot

Progress: I am starting to get the hang of a messier top knot.

Goal #9: Continue Making Our House Our Home

Progress: I've made a few new purchases (pouf from Target and a new TV stand) and have removed a few items that just didn't feel like us anymore.  Now that I have my Christmas decor out, I can't quit smiling.  It just finally feels like we live here instead of someone else.  I'm so blessed!

Goal #10: Make Devotions & Bible Study Part of My Daily Life

Progress: This is definitely not a daily thing yet.  I have been motivated to look up verses and pray while reading Anything and Messy Grace, but there is a lot of room for improvement here!

Are you working on anything in the personal growth department?  I'd love for you to share!

I also do a list now every New Year of things I want to achieve in that year. I think it really helps you focus and is great to tick the boxes as you go through the year x
